Sony UWP-D wireless microphone systems use digital audio processors to provide high-quality audio, and because of this they have had a broad range of applications including ENG, EFP, handheld camcorders and DSLRs.Unlike conventional analogue FM modulation wireless systems that convert the audio input to RF modulation via an analogue compander, the UWP-D series first converts the audio input to digital before processing through a digital compander, back to analogue, and then on to the RF modulation. This process is reversed on the receiving side to give a much improved transient response for added audio precision
